Hiroshima University

Hiroshima University (HU) is a National University Corporation and a prominent comprehensive research university in Japan. It was established in 1949 as a new system university, integrating seven government-run schools and one municipal school in the Hiroshima area, including the former Hiroshima University of Literature and Science. The university's history is deeply rooted, tracing back to the Hakushima School established in 1874. Due to its unique and solemn location in Hiroshima, the city that experienced the world's first atomic bombing, HU operates under three fundamental principles: the "pursuit of peace," the "creation of new knowledge," and the "cultivation of well-rounded human resources for the global community." These principles define its critical role as an international comprehensive research university built on the foundation of peace.

Following its transition to a National University Corporation in 2004, Hiroshima University has developed into a major educational and research hub. It currently encompasses 12 undergraduate faculties (including Integrated Arts and Sciences, Law, Medicine, Engineering, and Informatics and Data Science) and four graduate schools (including the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering).
