Senior Quality Automation Engineer / SDET — Japan

A growing global technology company is looking for a Senior Quality Automation Engineer / SDET to join its engineering organization in Japan.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to go beyond traditional QA execution and have meaningful ownership over test automation, quality engineering, and engineering practices.

What you’ll do

• Design and build scalable automated testing frameworks
• Drive Shift-Left quality practices across the software development lifecycle
• Develop automated tests across web applications, APIs, backend services, mobile, and AI-powered features
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Help develop approaches for testing and evaluating AI/LLM-based functionality
• Establish quality metrics and contribute to engineering-wide quality standards
• Lead exploratory testing, defect investigation, and root-cause analysis
• Collaborate closely with engineers and product teams to improve overall product quality

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of experience in software testing or quality engineering
• 3+ years of experience building or designing test automation frameworks
• Strong experience with modern test automation tools
• Solid API testing experience
• Hands-on CI/CD automation experience
• Business-level English
• Conversational Japanese (JLPT N3)

Experience with AI/ML/LLM testing, mobile automation, performance/security testing, or SaaS products is a plus.
