JAC's client, a well-established Vietnamese MEP engineering and contracting company, is looking for a Deputy Director of Project Division (Construction Execution) position.
Location: Ho Chi Minh City
Job Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
Lead and oversee the execution of multiple MEP and industrial construction projects, ensuring achievement of project objectives in terms of schedule, quality, safety, cost, and client satisfaction.
Develop project execution strategies and implementation plans to ensure successful project delivery.
Review project handover documents from Estimation and Design teams, identify project risks, and establish mitigation measures before construction commencement.
Monitor project performance and proactively resolve critical issues to minimize delays and operational disruptions.
Construction & Operations Management
Manage day-to-day construction operations, including manpower allocation, subcontractor management, equipment deployment, procurement coordination, and site resource planning.
Ensure effective utilization of resources across multiple projects simultaneously.
Conduct regular project reviews, progress meetings, and site inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements and company standards.
Drive continuous improvement in project execution methodologies, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Financial & Commercial Management
Manage project budgets, cash flow, cost performance, and profitability.
Monitor project expenditures and identify potential cost overruns or commercial risks.
Oversee variation orders, claims management, contract administration, and project financial reporting.
Apply Quantity Surveying (QS) principles and practices to manage project commercial aspects effectively.
Ensure project profitability through proper cost control, productivity improvement, and commercial risk management.
Stakeholder & Client Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders.
Serve as the primary escalation point for major project-related issues and client concerns.
Lead negotiations and commercial discussions when required.
Work closely with Japanese clients, FDI companies, and international stakeholders to ensure project requirements and expectations are met.
Team Leadership & People Development
Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, and project support teams.
Establish clear accountability and delegation frameworks across project teams.
Build succession capabilities and strengthen organizational competency to support business growth.
Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Process & System Enhancement
Implement and improve project management systems, reporting structures, and operational processes.
Drive digitalization initiatives through project dashboards, reporting tools, and data-driven performance monitoring.
Standardize project documentation, RFI, NCR, variation management, and best-practice project controls across all projects.
Job requirements
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, MEP Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related technical disciplines.
Experience
Minimum 10-15 years of experience in MEP construction, industrial construction, or project delivery management.
Demonstrated career progression from Senior Engineer/Senior Site Engineer to Project Management and leadership positions.
Proven experience managing large-scale industrial and manufacturing projects.
Strong exposure to Japanese-invested factories, FDI projects, EPC projects, or ODA-funded developments.
Extensive experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in complex construction environments.
Proven experience working directly with clients, consultants, contractors, and senior stakeholders.
Technical & Commercial Competencies
Strong technical understanding of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems and industrial construction projects.
Solid knowledge of:
Quantity Surveying (QS)
Cost estimation and budgeting
Contract administration
Cost control and cash flow management
Variation claims and change management
Project profitability analysis
Ability to oversee and coordinate multiple functions within a project, including technical, operational, commercial, and stakeholder management responsibilities.
Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, risk management, and project controls.
Leadership & Management Skills
Excellent leadership and people management capabilities.
Demonstrated success in developing and coaching Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, and Supervisors.
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple concurrent projects.
Strong decision-making skills under pressure.
Results-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Stakeholder Management
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Prior experience working with Japanese clients is highly preferred.
Familiarity with Japanese working culture, project standards, quality expectations, and reporting requirements is a strong advantage.
