POSITION TITLE Founding Head of Engineering
POSITION SUMMARY
A company in the digital financial infrastructure industry is hiring for a Founding Head of Engineering position. This organization is building next-generation financial technology platforms, including digital payment, wallet, and transaction infrastructure within a highly regulated environment. As a founding technology leader, you will play a critical role in shaping the engineering foundation, operational standards, and long-term scalability of the platform while working closely with executive leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead engineering architecture and delivery across mobile applications, backend services, cloud infrastructure, and platform operations.
Establish technical standards for software development, CI/CD, security, observability, reliability, and production readiness.
Oversee AWS cloud environments, infrastructure-as-code, release management, and operational controls.
Manage technical governance of external engineering partners, ensuring high-quality execution and scalable solutions.
Drive incident response, disaster recovery, monitoring, and operational best practices for mission-critical systems.
Partner with executive leadership to align engineering priorities with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years of experience in software, platform, cloud, DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering.
5+ years of technical leadership experience overseeing architecture, engineering quality, or production systems.
Strong expertise in AWS, cloud infrastructure, APIs, distributed systems, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform preferred).
Experience operating highly available production environments with strong security and operational controls.
Ability to lead engineering vendors and external partners through architecture reviews, delivery oversight, and release readiness.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse stakeholders.
Experience in regulated, security-focused, or audit-sensitive environments is highly preferred.
LOCATION Remote work flexibility within the United States.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE Full-Time
SALARY $160,000–$220,000
