Our client, a global investment firm managing over $30 billion in assets, is seeking a Senior Compliance Officer in Tokyo, Japan, with a path to becoming the Head of Compliance. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a global compliance team, contributing to significant projects and gaining leadership experience. Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret Japanese financial regulations for compliance
- Communicate with Japanese authorities and self-regulatory bodies
- Review and update compliance manuals and policies
- Monitor portfolio compliance for Japanese stocks
- Conduct compliance training for staff
- Advise on compliance for Japanese investment products
- File substantial shareholding reports for Japanese stocks
- Collaborate with global compliance and legal teams
Qualifications:
- Native Japanese language proficiency
- 3+ years in Compliance, Legal, Risk Management, or Internal Audit
- Experience in asset management compliance is preferred but not mandatory
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, or Accounting is preferred but not mandatory
- Fluent in English
- Familiarity with Japanese financial regulations (e.g., KLFB, FSA)
- Experience with compliance training and policy review
- Strong analytical skills for monitoring portfolio compliance
