【Job Responsibilities】

■A Snapshot of Your Day
We are currently seeking for an EHS Country Lead to join our team considering the expanding market opportunities within the dynamic energy sector. Adherence to EHS principles is of paramount importance within the organization and business. In line with that, we would expect you to have a sound understanding of EHS fundamentals as well as experiences in implementing the EHS Management System with an integrated approach with all applicable standards and legislative / legal requirements. You will be responsible for the EHS processes and activities within Japan and interact with various functions and disciplines within the corporate governance teams and the business. Therefore, you shall possess excellent communication, leadership and collaboration skills. The role has the responsibility to support the Country MD, Business Areas, and Global Functions in the country including Permanent Establishments and Affiliated Companies on the EHS elements identified in the Country Core and the Zero Harm Framework.

■How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Legal Compliance: Ensure adherence to country and local EHS regulations, maintaining a compliant legal structure.
  • Health Programs: Promote health initiatives and programs within the organization.
  • Incident Management: Support incident reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Reporting: Manage KPI and annual reporting, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • EHS Communication: Facilitate effective communication of EHS information across the organization.
  • Leadership: Champion Quality and EHS standards, guiding personnel on legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, fulfilling requirements throughout project lifecycles.
  • Implementation and Audits: Collaborate on EHS matters, ensuring compliance with business and regional plans, and support audits and incident management.
  • Competence and Risk Management: Ensure training compliance and guide risk assessments, updating them based on audits and incidents.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek improvements in EHS through Lean Management, digitalization, and innovation.

Required Skills

【What You Bring】

  • Education: Holds a bachelor’s degree in technical education, training, and/or EHS-related fields (e.g., Safety Officer), or possess recognized certificates that showcase your expertise.
  • Experience: Has a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the field of EHS.
  • Incident Management: Understands the incident management lifecycle comprising incident reporting including classification, containment / corrections, Root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Communication: Has good communication and presentation skills, enabling you to effectively convey EHS details and requirements to diverse audiences.
  • Leadership: Can lead, guide and collaborate with various functions / disciplines on all EHS matters.
  • Auditing: Having a Lead Auditor Certificate in ISO 9001, 14001 and/or 45001 will be an added advantage otherwise trained as an internal Auditor with good understanding on Audit lifecycle is essential.
  • Analytical Skills: Has the ability to analyze and solve EHS matters, identifying root causes on quality non-conformance or EHS incident and establishing appropriate corrective actions.
  • Legal Compliance: Has a good understanding of applicable statutory / legislative requirements, ensuring our operations adhere to all relevant requirements.
  • Energy Sector Experience: Having some experience within the energy sector or power plants will be an added advantage, allowing you to bring domain-specific insights to the role. 
  • Quality and Security: Any experience in the field of Quality Management and Security is a plus as both topics are part of the overall organizational scope and any support on those topics will be seen as a benefit to the organization and will be an added advantage.
  • Language: Has good command of English, both written and spoken, ensuring seamless communication in our global environment
