Job Description

Seeking an experienced Cloud Platform Engineer with a strong background in container orchestration and cloud platform operations. In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and automating a modern Kubernetes-based platform running on Google Cloud. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, operations, and delivery teams to build secure, reliable, and scalable cloud environments that support business-critical applications.

What You'll Do

  • Build, administer, and continuously improve Kubernetes environments hosted on Google Cloud across development, testing, and production stages.
  • Develop and maintain highly available cluster architectures while ensuring scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency.
  • Configure cloud networking components including private networking, shared network architectures, and secure connectivity between workloads.
  • Manage identity, authentication, and authorization within the Kubernetes platform, implementing role-based access controls and secure workload authentication.
  • Oversee platform maintenance activities including version upgrades, compute resource optimization, node management, automated scaling, and lifecycle planning.
  • Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using modern provisioning frameworks and reusable deployment templates.
  • Implement automated application deployment practices using Git-centric delivery methodologies and continuous deployment tooling.
  • Configure and support Kubernetes platform services such as ingress management, traffic routing, policy enforcement, and service mesh capabilities.
  • Design monitoring, alerting, logging, and metrics solutions that provide operational visibility across the platform.
  • Develop automation scripts and configuration management workflows to simplify repetitive operational activities.
  • Partner with software engineering teams to establish deployment standards, namespace governance, resource allocation, and operational best practices.
  • Participate in release coordination, environment readiness, production deployments, and operational support activities.

Required Skills

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise Kubernetes platforms within production environments.
  • Practical experience working with Google Cloud's managed Kubernetes services in enterprise deployments.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts including private cluster design, virtual networking, secure routing, and network segmentation.
  • Experience developing infrastructure automation using declarative provisioning tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes package management and application deployment practices.
  • Experience implementing Kubernetes security controls, identity integration, and permission management.
  • Familiarity with Git-based deployment strategies and automated software delivery pipelines.
  • Experience using automation tools for infrastructure configuration and operational workflows.
  • Good understanding of container security practices including image validation, vulnerability management, and deployment governance.

Desirable Skills

  • Industry-recognized certifications in Kubernetes, Google Cloud, or cloud-native DevOps technologies.
  • Experience implementing service mesh technologies within Kubernetes environments.
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning, or data processing workloads deployed on container platforms.
  • Experience supporting large-scale, multi-team Kubernetes environments with shared platform services.
  • Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering principles, including service objectives, reliability metrics, and operational performance measurement.
