Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MEP Cost Engineer / M&E QS to support the commercial and cost management functions for construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for M&E cost estimation, budget control, contract administration, progress claims, variation orders, and final accounts.

 

This role is ideal for candidates with strong Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) costing and contract administration experience within the construction industry.

 

Responsibilities

  • Review quantity take-offs and costing calculations for tender submissions, quotations, and cost analysis purposes.

  • Review and monitor project site budgets.

  • Review Monthly Budget Summary Reports and ensure cost control measures are effectively implemented.

  • Review and verify subcontractors' progress claims and payment applications.

  • Review progress claims submitted to clients/customers.

  • Manage and review variation orders (VO) and final accounts with clients.

  • Review and finalize variation orders and final accounts with subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Liaise closely with project teams, consultants, and design teams on costing and commercial matters.

  • Ensure compliance with Kajima Total Management Systems, company policies, procedures, and work instructions.

  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the superior from time to time.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related disciplines.

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience in M&E costing, commercial, contract administration, or cost engineering within the construction industry.

 

Hands-on experience in:

  • BQ preparation and quantity take-off

  • Cost estimation and tendering

  • Budget monitoring and cost control

  • Progress claims

  • Variation orders (VO)

  • Final account preparation and negotiation

  • Subcontract administration

  • Strong understanding of M&E systems and construction costs.

  • Good negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and cost management practices.
