PR/160873 | Team Lead - System Design - Air Traffic Control Device

A leading provider of air traffic management and mission-critical communication solutions is seeking a Team Lead - Systems Design to support the design, integration, and delivery of advanced air traffic communication systems across Malaysia. This role will be responsible for leading system architecture, radio communication design, voice communication systems integration, and end-to-end technical implementation for civil and military aviation projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with operational, regulatory, and safety requirements while supporting mission-critical communication infrastructure and air traffic management initiatives. 

• Lead system-level design and architecture for air traffic communication solutions, including VHF, UHF, and HF radio systems, as well as ground-to-air and ground-to-ground voice communication systems. 

• Develop technical solutions that meet operational, regulatory, and safety requirements within the aviation industry. 

• Define system interfaces, redundancy strategies, fallback designs, and overall communication system requirements. 

• Perform network design analysis, coverage planning, and interference assessments to optimise system performance and reliability. 

• Design and integrate Air Traffic Control (ATC) Voice Communication Systems, including controller working positions, voice recording systems, intercoms, hotlines, and telephony interfaces. 

• Design radio transmission solutions involving transceivers, antennas, combiners, multicouplers, RF distribution systems, and remote radio site infrastructure. 

• Support frequency planning activities and provide recommendations on spectrum utilisation and channel allocation.

• Ensure compliance with international air traffic communication standards and industry best practices.

• Lead the integration of hardware, software, and networking components into complete communication systems. 

• Prepare technical documentation, including system architecture designs, subsystem specifications, and Interface Control Documents (ICD). 

• Define and execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and system verification activities. 

• Support system commissioning, deployment, troubleshooting, and operational handover to end users. 

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communications Engineering, Telecommunications, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline. 

• Minimum 8 years of experience in telecommunications, mission-critical communication systems, or related engineering environments. 

• Proven experience in air traffic communications, air traffic management (ATM) systems, or similar critical infrastructure environments. 

• Strong hands-on experience in the design, implementation, or integration of radio transmission systems, including VHF, UHF, and HF technologies. 

• Experience with voice communication and switching systems, including analog and digital communication technologies. 

• Good understanding of IP networking technologies, including LAN/WAN, QoS, redundancy, and network resilience. 

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and technical documentation skills.

• Able to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams in a highly regulated and mission-critical environment.
