Legal Counsel - Famous Luxury Brand (WFH Flex) Exclusive job

A leading global luxury and fashion company is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its growing legal team in Japan.

This is a newly created role within the legal team of a major luxury company with a long-established presence and strong brand recognition in Japan. You will join an experienced legal team supporting the company's brands in the Japan market, working across English and Japanese in a diverse, international environment. The company is on a strong growth trajectory and is expanding its legal function to keep pace with increasing market share.

This role suits a legal professional who wants broad, hands-on exposure across commercial, IP, and regulatory matters — rather than a narrow specialist track — within a well-known fashion brand environment.

We are looking for a lawyer with:

• At least 3 years of experience in the legal department of a major corporation
• Broad working knowledge of Japanese corporate law
• Business-level English and native-level Japanese, written and spoken
• Previous experience in the apparel, fashion, or retail sector is an advantage

Key Responsibilities

• Review, draft and negotiate licensing agreements, retail distribution contracts, and supplier agreements
• Advise on trademark and brand protection matters, including IP enforcement
• Ensure marketing and advertising materials comply with Japan's labeling and advertising regulations (景品表示法)
• Support e-commerce and omnichannel retail legal matters
• Manage corporate documentation and registration across all group companies
• Support the legal team on ad hoc projects as the business scales in Japan
