Legal Counsel | Famous Global FMCG Brand | (Flexible WFH) Exclusive job

A leading global FMCG company is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its growing legal team in Japan.

This is a newly created role within the legal team of a major FMCG company with a long-established presence and strong brand recognition in Japan. You will join an experienced legal team supporting all brands in the Japan market, working across English and Japanese in a diverse, international environment. The company is on a strong growth trajectory and is expanding its legal function to keep pace with increasing market share.

This role suits a legal professional who wants broad, hands-on exposure across commercial, regulatory, and corporate matters — rather than a narrow specialist track — within a well-known consumer brand environment.

We are looking for a lawyer with:

• At least 3 years of experience in the legal department of a major corporation
• Broad working knowledge of Japanese corporate law
• Business-level English and native-level Japanese, written and spoken
• Previous experience in the FMCG, consumer goods, or retail sector is an advantage

Key Responsibilities

• Review, draft and amend a wide range of legal documents, including third-party vendor agreements, property agreements and licensing arrangements
• Provide cross-departmental legal advice on commercial agreements and sales & marketing materials
• Monitor industry standards and ensure alignment with internal and external regulations
• Manage corporate documentation and registration across all group companies, ensuring compliance with internal and external guidelines
• Support the legal team on ad hoc projects as the business scales in Japan
