Job Description

A. Radiation Safety Management

  • Monitor and control radiation exposure levels for workers, the public, and the environment

  • Conduct routine radiation monitoring, surveys, and exposure measurements

  • Maintain, review, and analyze personnel dosimetry records

  • Implement and promote ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles across operations

B. Regulatory Compliance (Radiation & EHS)

  • Ensure full compliance with AERB regulations, licensing requirements, and applicable statutory norms

  • Support adherence to EHS standards including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and legal compliance requirements

  • Manage regulatory documentation, internal/external audits, and statutory inspections

  • Prepare and submit compliance reports via AERB and other statutory portals

C. Training & Awareness

  • Conduct radiation safety training for employees handling radiation sources and equipment

  • Deliver EHS training programs covering PPE usage, hazard identification, emergency response, and waste management

  • Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures

  • Organize and conduct mock drills (fire safety, radiation emergencies, evacuation scenarios)

D. Equipment & Resource Management

  • Ensure safe handling and operation of radiation-emitting equipment (X-ray, gamma sources, NDT systems)

  • Oversee calibration, maintenance, and performance checks of monitoring instruments

  • Manage safe storage, transportation, and disposal of radioactive materials in compliance with regulations

  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and waste as per EHS standards

E. Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Responsibilities

  • Conduct workplace risk assessments such as HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment) and JSA (Job Safety Analysis)

  • Monitor compliance with safety practices, PPE usage, and identify unsafe acts/conditions

  • Support environmental management initiatives, including:

    • Hazardous and non-hazardous waste management

    • Pollution control and regulatory compliance

    • Resource conservation and sustainability initiatives

  • Monitor occupational health risks including exposure to noise, chemicals, radiation, and ergonomic hazards

  • Support implementation of occupational health surveillance programs

F. Incident & Risk Management

  • Investigate radiation incidents, workplace accidents, and near-miss events

  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and drive implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)

  • Maintain incident reporting systems and documentation

  • Ensure emergency preparedness and effective response systems are in place
