Company Overview
Our client is an engineering solutions provider specializing in the design and execution of sophisticated controlled environments. Their firm supports high-tech industries by delivering complex mechanical systems for laboratories, cleanrooms, and advanced manufacturing facilities. As they continue to drive growth and expansion, they are now seeking a Design Manager, Electrical to join their team and contribute to their ongoing success.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership: Lead the electrical design team in developing and reviewing Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), layout drawings, and technical specifications for large-scale projects.
Value Engineering: Review consultant designs to identify cost-saving opportunities and enhance "constructability" while maintaining safety and performance standards.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to Singapore Standards (SS 638, SS 650, SS 555) and BCA Green Mark requirements.
Technical Coordination: Act as the primary technical liaison for external consultants, clients, and authorities (EMA, SP PowerGrid, FSSD).
BIM Integration: Lead the BIM/Revit coordination process to ensure "clash-free" digital models prior to site mobilization.
Project Lifecycle Support: Provide technical evaluations of vendors during procurement, resolve complex issues during construction/commissioning (T&C), and approve shop drawings and material submissions.
Multidisciplinary Integration: Oversee the seamless integration of Electrical systems with Mechanical and Fire services.
Key Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (must be recognized by the Professional Engineers Board Singapore).
Experience: Minimum of 7 years in Electrical Design, with at least 5 years specifically within a Consultancy firm.
Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of HT/LT power distribution, standby generators, UPS systems, and ELV integration.
Software Proficiency: Skilled in AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and electrical calculation software (e.g., Amtech or ETAP).
Certifications: Possession of an EMA Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) Grade 7/8 or status as a Chartered/Professional Engineer (PE) is highly advantageous.
Communication: Strong negotiation skills to balance client requirements with project budget constraints.
Leadership: A proven track record of mentoring junior engineers and managing a design department.
Mobility: Ability to travel to project sites as required.
