【Main Purpose】
The Field Project Engineer is a site based construction engineer responsible for turning design and engineering requirements into safe buildable and well controlled field execution for the Japan project.
The role works daily with the Construction Manager project engineers contractors and supervisors to remove constraints resolve field technical issues verify progress and quality against the latest drawings and report the actual status of the works clearly in English.
This is not a desk only coordination role. The successful candidate must demonstrate recent hands on construction experience strong drawing reading capability practical judgement at the work face and a problem solving mindset.
【Duties Responsibilities】
This is a site execution role. The job holder must be visible on site understand the actual works verify the field condition against the drawings and drive issues to closure with practical options.
〇Field engineering and drawing control
Read understand and apply IFC drawings shop drawings specifications method statements ITPs RFIs and approved revisions before work starts.
Verify that contractors are working from the latest approved drawings and that field conditions match design intent dimensions interfaces and constructability requirements.
Identify clashes missing information access constraints material gaps and sequencing risks early; propose practical solutions with safety schedule and cost impact clearly stated.
Maintain field redlines as built inputs technical query logs and action trackers so that site decisions remain traceable.
〇Daily work front execution
Walk active work fronts every day with supervisors and contractors to confirm progress readiness manpower equipment materials permits and inspection requirements.
Coordinate interfaces between civil/building electrical mechanical utilities process/aquaculture systems and temporary works to prevent rework and delays.
Support work packaging short interval planning and the 2 3 week look ahead so that upcoming constraints are visible before they affect production.
Ensure that problems are not simply passed upward: define the issue root cause options recommendation owner and required decision date.
〇Quality safety and reporting
Support inspections hold points punch list closure and NCR resolution by checking the actual works against drawings specifications and ITP requirements.
Promote safe construction methods and immediately escalate unsafe conditions design risks access issues or quality failures that could stop the works.
Prepare concise daily construction reports in English covering progress quantities photographs constraints decisions required actions and risk to milestones.
Issue a weekly engineering/work front summary showing progress against plan open RFIs NCRs punch items critical constraints and recovery actions.
〇Key Performance Indicators initial project targets
Targets are to be reviewed after the first 90 days and calibrated to the approved project baseline contract requirements and actual site risk profile.
Daily field report issued on time for =95% of working days with factual progress photographs constraints and action owners.
100% of critical safety quality or milestone threatening issues escalated within 2 hours with proposed corrective options within 24 hours.
=90% of RFIs/technical queries answered routed or formally escalated within the agreed project timeframe.
=85% weekly work plan adherence for committed engineering supported work fronts with missed commitments explained and recovery actions assigned.
=90% first pass acceptance at inspections supported by the role; repeated defects are tracked to root cause and prevented.
=90% of punch list NCR and corrective actions closed by due date.
Redline/as built inputs updated within 5 working days of confirmed field change or site instruction.

【Essential】
Bachelor degree in engineering or equivalent construction related technical qualification.
Minimum 10 years professional experience on large industrial construction projects as part of owner EPC main contractor or specialist contractor teams.
Minimum 5 years recent hands on field engineering or construction execution experience on active construction sites.
Proven ability to read construction drawings understand real site sequence coordinate contractors and close technical issues without excessive escalation.
Experience preparing clear daily/weekly site reports RFI responses action trackers and progress evidence in English.
Strong understanding of construction methods engineering principles work packaging ITPs RFIs NCRs punch list management and site documentation.
Able to read and interpret drawings specifications method statements schedules quantities redlines and as built information.
Strong English communication: minimum CEFR B2 or equivalent; able to write clear technical reports emails and action summaries.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; competent with CAD/PDF markup tools and project document control platforms.
Able to assess schedule cost quality and safety impact of field issues and recommend practical corrective actions.
【Desirable】
Construction management project management or site engineering qualification.
Training in quality management planning cost control or contract administration.
Japan project experience or experience working with Japanese contractors and local authorities.
Water treatment aquaculture food grade process plant utilities or industrial facility experience.
Japanese language capability for site coordination.
Experience with Primavera P6 MS Project Aconex BIM/3D models Bluebeam AutoCAD or similar tools.
