Job Description

Global Innovation Campus / Network Ownership for Japan

Our client is a global innovation platform that builds and operates workspaces, laboratories, event spaces, and startup communities across North America, Europe, and Asia. Their campuses bring together startups, scale-ups, corporations, public institutions, universities, and research communities to create new businesses, partnerships, and innovation ecosystems.

They are now hiring a System & Network Engineer to take ownership of the company’s network and systems infrastructure across Japan, covering offices in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka.

This is a highly hands-on technical role for someone with strong network engineering depth, especially around Wi-Fi / WLAN environments, access points, routing, switching, firewalls, monitoring, troubleshooting, and infrastructure reliability. The company is especially interested in candidates with a CCNP / CCIE-level technical background who can independently handle complex network issues and work closely with the global technology team.

You will be the key technical owner for Japan’s systems and network environment, supporting a business where stable and secure connectivity is one of the core services provided to clients.

What You Will Do

As the System & Network Engineer, you will design, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the company’s systems and network infrastructure to ensure reliability, security, and scalability.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and configure network infrastructure, with a strong focus on Wi-Fi / WLAN environments
  • Manage network environments with hundreds of access points and low-footprint network stacks
  • Support routing, switching, firewalls, network security, and related infrastructure
  • Work with network hardware such as Extreme Networks, Ruckus, Cisco, Juniper, or similar technologies
  • Support physical access control systems across office/campus environments
  • Deploy and maintain core systems, cloud services, and internal tools
  • Work with platforms such as Google Workspace, GCP, Jira Service Management, Elasticsearch, Docker, Kubernetes, Windows VMs, and Linux VMs
  • Monitor network traffic and system usage, and support capacity planning
  • Coordinate with vendors for network hardware, software, and services
  • Maintain network diagrams, system documentation, configuration records, and change management documentation
  • Collaborate with local and global stakeholders to understand infrastructure needs and provide technical guidance
  • Participate in on-call support for urgent network or infrastructure issues

Why This Role Is Attractive

  • High-impact ownership: You will be the main engineer responsible for Japan’s network and systems environment.
  • Advanced technical environment: The role is especially suitable for someone with deep network troubleshooting skills and CCNP / CCIE-level capability.
  • Global reporting line: You will work directly with the company’s overseas technology team.
  • Japan-wide scope: You will support Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka offices, with occasional domestic business trips.
  • Business-critical infrastructure: Network reliability is central to the service the company provides to its clients and communities.
  • Global innovation environment: The company works with startups, corporates, public institutions, universities, and research communities.
