Our client is a well-established engineering services provider in the power & energy sector, supporting major power plant operations across the region. The company works closely with global OEM partners and is involved in outage, maintenance, and upgrade projects for large scale power generation facilities.
We are now looking for Technical Support Engineer (Mechanical) to provide engineering expertise and on-site support for power plant mechanical systems particularly in turbine and auxiliary equipment.
Job Responsibilities: -
Provide technical support for power plant mechanical systems, including: Steam / Gas Turbine, Control Valves, Pump and Rotating Equipment
Troubleshoot technical issues and perform root cause analysis
Coordinate with global engineering teams (including Japan HQ) for technical solutions
Review and validate engineering documents, reports and specifications
Support planning for spare parts, tools and maintenance activities
Prepare and review technical proposals for tenders (RFP / ITB)
Define technical scope, specifications and project requirements
Support technical clarifications and contract discussions
Assist in resolving technical deviations or non-conformance issues
Support and participate in plant outage / shutdown / turnaround (TA)
Overhaul and upgrade projects
Performs site activities including equipment inspection, dismantling & reassembly
Progress monitoring and reporting
Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors and internal teams
Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
Prepare technical and service reports post execution
Prepare and review technical specifications for RFQ / Purchase Requisition
Evaluate supplier proposals and provide technical recommendations
Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 5 years of experience in Power plant engineering or field service
Hands on experience in Steam or gas turbine systems
Rotating equipment (pump, valves, auxiliary systems)
Maintenance, outage, shutdown or overhaul activities
Good understanding of Power plant mechanical systems and operations
Inspection method and basic NDT concepts
Ability to troubleshoot issues independently
Interpret engineering drawings and system diagrams
Willing to travel locally and overseas (2-3 months per assignments)
Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
