A global leader in advanced automation and material handling solutions is seeking an experienced Mechanical Application Engineering Manager to lead and grow its engineering team. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technical leader who thrives in complex, high‑precision environments and is passionate about delivering robust mechanical designs for industrial and semiconductor applications.
You will play a critical role in driving engineering excellence, standardization, and innovation—working closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver integrated, customer‑focused automation solutions. Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Mechanical Application Engineering team to ensure all design deliverables meet technical, quality, cost, and timeline requirements.
Provide technical leadership in the design and development of custom material handling and automation systems aligned with customer specifications.
Review and approve engineering outputs including conceptual designs, 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and related technical documentation.
Drive continuous design improvement, standardization, and best‑practice implementation across product lines.
Collaborate closely with Sales, Project Management, Electrical, and Software teams to ensure seamless system integration and project execution.
Support customer engagement through technical discussions and presentations during both pre‑sales and post‑sales stages.
Manage team capacity through effective resource planning, recruitment, coaching, performance management, and talent development.
Establish, implement, and enforce engineering SOPs, design standards, and quality control processes.
Monitor and manage engineering KPIs including schedule adherence, cost control, design quality, and customer satisfaction.
Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and project risks, resolving escalated design or resource challenges.
Ensure full compliance with applicable industry standards (e.g., SEMI, ISO) and internal company policies.
Lead root cause analysis and troubleshooting for complex design or production issues when required.
Plan and manage departmental budgets, engineering tools, and software licenses.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical design or application engineering, including at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
Strong experience in automation systems, machine design, and semiconductor or cleanroom‑related environments.
Proven leadership, people development, and decision‑making capabilities.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Strategic mindset combined with a hands‑on, execution‑oriented approach.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, ergonomics, safety standards, and manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with product development lifecycle, risk management, and FMEA / DOE methodologies.
Experience working in cross‑functional engineering and project teams.
Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD tools.
Strong capabilities in mechanical calculations, material selection, and tolerance analysis.
Knowledge of SEMI standards and cleanroom equipment requirements is an added advantage.
Demonstrated ability to review, validate, and approve complex engineering designs and documentation.
