Our client, a leading company in the hospitality industry with operations in Japan, is seeking a Corporate Finance Specialist for their Tokyo office. This role offers the opportunity to serve as the primary financial controller for the Japan portfolio, including joint venture entities, and work directly with the CFO on strategic financial matters. The position offers a competitive salary range of ¥8,000,000 - ¥12,000,000 per annum, with the requirement of fluency in both Japanese and English.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary financial controller for Japan portfolio
- Manage financial reporting in accordance with JGAAP
- Lead statutory compliance and tax filings
- Coordinate with operational teams for seamless financial operations
- Support CFO on strategic financial matters and forecasting
- Oversee vendor and payroll provider relationships
- Implement process improvements for cost efficiency
Qualifications:
- CFA charterholder or equivalent professional accounting qualification
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in Japan
- Deep knowledge of JGAAP and local regulatory environment
- JLPT N2 or above (business-level Japanese communication required)
- Strong command of English for internal reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software, Yayoi, or Oracle
- Experience with TMK structures
- Experience in hospitality or real estate accounting is preferred but not mandatory
