Job Description

Purpose of Position

CFO Position is responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting for activities in Japan in accordance with GAAP, IFRS and various other local regulatory requirements.

Accountable for working with Country Management and Business Units to establish and maintain strong internal controls across all offices.

  • Growth and management of complex accounts
  • Oversee forecasting report and cash flow efficiency
  • Achieve compliance and high standard of quality of data
  • Meet Internal and External auditing requirements and achieve high compliance results

Role and Responsibility

  • Oversee the finance department and all financial matters
  • Responsible for a variety of finance and accounting activities such as tax, financial control standards, FP&A, treasure management, etc.
  • File consolidated financial statements
  • Track the financial aspects of client projects, such as case administration profitability, invoicing
  • Effectively balance risk/reward trad-offs
  • Management of PL
  • Management of Junior Accountant
  • Manage employee records and related payroll activities as needed
  • Manage compliance to internal control standards
  • Ensure integrity and consistency of accounts
  • Submit accurate periodical reports adhering to corporate, regional company requirements and local legislative requirements
  • See that account reconciliations and analysis adhere to GAAP, IFRS and corporate standards
  • Manage complex accounts and issues appropriately, conducting analysis, developing solutions and implementation.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures in line with regional and global company best practice
  • Check and report ongoing performance against budget and assist with corrective actions as necessary
  • Utilize software packages, ERP and MS Dynamics
  • Ensure commitment and compliance to the related requirements as dictated by local law, requirements of local governing bodies and Customer and Company policies
  • Maintain awareness of changes or updates to Accounting principles
  • Create and maintain a Healthy, Safe, and Secure Environment and ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation, company policy & any applicable industry requirements

General Requirements

Minimum Experience Level Over 10 years
Career Level Executive
Minimum English Level Fluent (Amount Used: English usage about 50%)
Minimum Japanese Level Native
Minimum Education Level Associate Degree/Diploma
Visa Status Permission to work in Japan required

Required Skills

Skills and Certifications required

  • Minimum 10 years experience in Finance and Accounting position
  • Experience in a large organization with several stakeholders with differing expectations and needs
  • Experience with Corporate budgeting, overseas reporting, and financial performance management
  • Degree qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Administration.  MBA desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of standards, regulations and legislative requirements for reporting, tax, auditing
  • IFRS16 Lease accounting acknowledgement
  • Bilingual Japanese and English fluency
