Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including master services agreements, client/vendor agreements, licensing agreements, subcontractor/partnership agreements, nondisclosure agreements, technology transactional matters, and variable pricing agreements
• Champion contracting and risk management standards to ensure compliance and mitigate risks
• Collaborate with the Finance team to support contract management processes and streamline operations
• Provide general counselling on business and legal issues, including licensing, intellectual property, digital technology, data protection, competition law, trade regulations, conflicts of interest, and other legal matters
• Identify risks and suggest alternative solutions to protect the company's interests
• Act as a bridge between functions and business to resolve legal issues effectively and efficiently
• Implement and develop contracting policies and processes while seeking approvals for deviations when necessary
• Integrate into the Global Legal Team to resolve complex legal issues collaboratively across regions
• Contribute to the development of Legal Team know-how, templates, technology solutions, and other enablers to enhance efficiency

Requirements:

• Japan qualified lawyer (Bengoshi)
• More than 7 years of commercial contracting experience with international exposure
• More than 2 years with a reputable law firm is preferred
• Prior in-house experience is preferred
• Proficient in contract lifecycle software, Slack, and other platforms
• Superior analytical skills and creative problem-solving ability
• Ability to deal with a diverse international set of clients and advisors
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluent level Japanese and English
