JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include:
Lead and drive the ingestion of new data sources into the enterprise data lake using scalable, secure mechanisms.
Provide reliable and performant data access via supported consumption frameworks to internal business functions.
Design, build, and maintain high-quality batch and real-time data pipelines to support new and existing digital products.
Understand the architecture of enterprise data platforms and drive improvements in structure, scalability, and performance.
Incorporate non-functional requirements such as scalability, security, maintainability, and resilience into solution design.
Ensure seamless cross-functional collaboration, effective handoffs, and adherence to delivery timelines.
Participate in proof-of-concept (POC) efforts and support technical presentations to stakeholders and partners.
Support hiring and onboarding of top-tier engineering talent; mentor and develop junior staff.
Help establish a center of excellence through best practices, reusable frameworks, and standardized documentation.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience & Technical Expertise:
15+ years of experience in the data engineering domain, with increasing leadership responsibilities.
Proven experience in designing and supporting both streaming and batch ETL pipelines.
Expertise in data modeling, large-scale distributed data systems, and modern data architectures.
Experience with distributed computing frameworks (Spark, Hadoop), stream processing (Kafka), and NoSQL/SQL databases.
Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Strong programming background in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
Familiarity with technologies like Databricks, Hive, Presto, Cassandra, and modern data lake architectures.
Hands-on experience with data warehousing concepts and tools.
Soft Skills & Leadership:
Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to interact with C-level stakeholders.
Demonstrated success managing cross-functional technical teams and concurrent delivery streams.
Experience in hiring, mentoring, and building engineering teams.
High level of ownership, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize competing demands.
Preferred:
Experience in the banking, fintech, or consulting sectors is highly advantageous.
