We are expanding our operations in Gentailer (renewable energy business), Greentech (power trading/risk management), and Platform (platform business), striving to create a system where everyone around the world can utilize stable CO2-free power at a low cost.

The Japanese energy industry is currently undergoing significant transformation. The shift from traditional large-scale centralized power generation to decentralized energy systems utilizing solar power and storage batteries is progressing. However, this new energy system faces unprecedented technical challenges, including real-time supply-demand balancing, market-driven pricing, and complex power trading.

The Data & AI Solutions team is dedicated to solving these challenges through the power of data and AI, developing and providing products aimed at realizing a sustainable energy society.

Role Overview
We are looking for a candidate who can lead the team with their knowledge and skills, particularly in back-end application development. You will have the autonomy to explore solutions to challenges across back-end applications, data pipelines, infrastructure, and IoT device integration.

The responsibilities of a software engineer extend beyond technical domains. You will discover optimal solutions through requirement definitions with business divisions and communication with internal stakeholders. Collaboration with the Data Scientist team will enable the integration of AI/ML models with back-end applications.

• Ability to structure requirements based on functional/non-functional units and lead the design considering internal quality (maintainability, ease of change) of back-end applications.
• Collaborate across functions with Data Scientists and Product Managers to enhance service levels.
• Drive the design and implementation of large-scale data processing and real-time processing systems.
• Actively lead team discussions on the appropriate layer to resolve technical and business challenges identified by the team.
• Knowledge of best practices for scalable system architecture utilizing AWS, providing effective reviews and recommendations based on that knowledge.
• Promote improvements in operational levels of data infrastructure and back-end applications involving the team.
• Propose and execute measures aimed at improving internal quality and productivity of existing codebases, explaining the necessity of these efforts to internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Back-end development and operation of the following products in the Data & AI Solutions team:
  • Energy Platform: Development of platforms for market-linked power purchasing and storage operation services.
  • Energy Bridge: Development of renewable energy solutions supporting corporate decarbonization management.
  • Behind-the-Meter (BTM): Development of home storage battery control systems.
  • Front-of-the-Meter (FTM): Development of systems for grid storage battery control, arbitrage, demand-supply adjustment, and capacity market compliance.
• Design and operation of data infrastructure.
• Development and maintenance of data pipelines.
• Construction of real-time data processing systems.
• Ensuring data security.
• Design and implementation of back-end infrastructure.
• Design of scalable system architecture.
• Performance and cost optimization.

特にバックエンドアプリケーション開発において、その知識やスキルでチームをリードする人材を募集しています。バックエンドアプリケーション、データパイプライン、インフラストラクチャ、IoTデバイス連携に至るまで、課題の解決方法を思索し、それを実現するために必要となる幅広い裁量を持ちます。

ソフトウェアエンジニアの責任は技術的な領域だけにとどまりません。事業部門との要件定義や社内ステークホルダーとのコミュニケーションを通じて最適な課題解決方法を発見します。また、Data Scientistチームとの協業により、AI/MLモデルとバックエンドアプリケーションの連携を実現していきます。

Requirements

• Ability to reflect security, reliability, availability, and scalability in systems throughout the entire software lifecycle (design, development, operation).
• Over 5 years of software development experience.
• Experience in developing and operating web services using public clouds like AWS.
• Experience leading service development and operations in a team.
• Ability to understand business challenges and solve them with technology.
• Business-level Japanese proficiency (N1 equivalent for foreign nationals).

Preferred Experiences

• Experience in requirement definition and functional design through communication with internal stakeholders.
• Experience in designing, building, and operating system architecture using public clouds like AWS.
• Experience in system development in the renewable energy industry.
• Experience working with a wide range of technology stacks from front-end to back-end and infrastructure.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, AWS SAM, etc.
• Experience scaling systems through organization, business, and system structuring.
• Experience leading security enhancements in systems.
• Business-level English communication skills (capable of collaborating with foreign team members).
