Senior TS&D Specialist - Adhesives & Fluids (Automotive), Utsunomiya, Japan

Summary

The Adhesives & Fluids business within DuPont serves primarily the automotive market and expects to grow fast along with the trend of auto electrification and light-weighting.  This position is responsible for technical service and application development to support the business growth objectives for battery adhesives, structural adhesives, and elastic adhesives in Japan.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a technical professional to work with customers to develop new applications and provide technical services. Provide product recommendations, application guidance, on-site trial support, and troubleshooting to customers.
  • Lead new product performance qualification at target customers according to customer requests by collaborating with global & regional cross-function teams and customers. Review new products with the Product Stewardship and Regulatory team to ensure regulation compliance.
  • Summarize and report project results regularly with proper documentation. Protect proprietary information.
  • Provide guidance to lab technologists, develop experiment and testing plans, analyze data, and work with lab technologists to maintain an accurate and up-to-date laboratory record.
  • Actively participate in professional society activities and industry meetings.  Maintain an awareness of technical literature to define new technical approaches and areas of interest.
  • Interact with customers and value chain influencers to understand the industry's technical trends and emerging application performance requirements.  Integrate the information to communicate well to internal teams, and pro-actively provide strategic inputs to technology roadmap.
  • Follow the guidelines for laboratory equipment, supplies, training procedures, and records according to Quality System standards and Lab Safety requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong project leadership and customer-centricity.

 

About Remote Work: 

  • Remote work is allowed if you can commute to the office from your home within two hours. 
  • You must work at the office every day during the six-month trial period. After that, you may work remotely for two days a week. 

 

Work Hours and About Flex Time: 

  • 9:00 to 17:30 (7.5 hours actual working time). 
  • The above is the standard scheduled working time.  
  • There is a flextime system with a core time of 11:00 to 15:00.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Polymer Science, or related majors.
  • Experienced technical professional with in-depth knowledge of adhesives and their applications is preferred. Working experience in the automotive industry is a plus.
  • Experience with designed experimentation and statistics such as Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Exposure to project management tools is a plus.
  • Demonstrated strong technical capability, particularly in problem-solving and analytical ability.
  • Demonstrated capability of working with cross-functional teams for commercializing new products and applications.
  • Ability to take initiative - identify problems and suggest solutions, proactively think with the team on application development and customer issues.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with others who have diverse skills, education, and backgrounds.
  • Good learning agility and self-drivenness.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in Japanese and English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused global environment.
  • Flexible with business travels.
