Job Description

1. Development of the School:
 ● Implement a clear vision for the school which embraces the vision, purpose,mission and strategic goals as set out by the CBD.
 ● Plan and implement a broad, creative, language-rich curriculum based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) that is relevant to the age/needs of the students.
 ● Embed houses as the core component to the development of character and enrichment throughout the school.
 ● Monitor teaching and learning and set targets to improve standards based on assessment and performance data.
  ●   Monitor   and   evaluate   the   impact   and   effectiveness   of   the   school’s administrative procedures and policies and take appropriate action where necessary.
 ● Create, implement and keep under review a School Development Plan (SDP),with appropriate priorities and targets.
  ●   Ensure   the   school   meets   the   legal,   financial   and   health   and   safety obligations as set out by the CBD.
 ● To identify the needs of the school required to meet the school’s vision and
aims.
  ● Create a positive culture within the school and its community through leading by example.

2. Teaching and Learning:
  ●   Promote   high   standards   of   planning,   teaching,   learning,assessment,behaviour and achievement.
 ● Monitor and evaluate the quality of curriculum teaching and standards of
learning and achievement for all students
  ● Ensure thematic and inquiry-based teaching of the foundation subjects is
engaging and purposeful.
 ● Ensure assessment practices are relevant, manageable and impactful on student outcomes.
 ● Ensure arts and creativity are embedded into the curriculum.
 ● Maintain positive, effective partnerships with parents to support and improve student achievement and personal development.
 ● Promote a diverse and inclusive school community, meeting the needs of learners with different learning strengths and challenges.

3. Leading and Managing staff:
 ● Build a strong team ethos and empower staff to offer their best to students.
 ● Ensure the professional duties, as defined in the terms and conditions of staff contracts, are fulfilled.
 ● Ensure all staff are committed to the school’s aims and staff effectiveness is monitored.
 ● Plan and support work undertaken by year groups, teams and individuals
 ● Develop open and honest relationships with staff, students, parents and the CBD providing information,support and objective advice as appropriate.
 ● Work closely with senior leaders on the administrative systems within the school.

4. Effective deployment of staff and resources:
 ● Work with the CBD to recruit teaching staff of the highest calibre ensuring all aspects of the school’s safe recruitment policy is followed.
 ● Deploy staff to ensure the learning needs of groups and individual students are met.
 ● Prepare a thorough induction for all new staff entering the school.
 ● Lead, coordinate and monitor the professional development of teaching staff.
 ● Monitor and review the use of resources in order to ensure the principles of best value are achieved.
 ● Ensure the school is a safe, healthy and attractive place for learning.
 ● Manage and adhere to the educational budget set by the Board and any other financial matters.

5. Accountability:
 ● Work with the CBD in ensuring compliance with all safeguarding and legal requirements and regulations.
  ●   Develop   an   organisation   whereby   all   staff   recognise   that   they   are accountable for the success of the school.
 ● Monitor and evaluate the performance of the school, and regularly present
coherent and accurate reports to the Board to inform further school development.
 ● Ensure that parents and students are well informed about the curriculum, attainment and progress.
 ● Contribute to the school’s rigorous and on-going self-evaluation cycle and quality assurance procedures across the school, specifically in line managed faculties/teams, including:-Prepare the school’s   SEF   and   provide   relevant   evidence.-Interpreting   and   acting   upon student performance/prior attainment data.
 ● Moderating student standards of achievement and behaviour.
 ●  Check  that  all  staff  are  fulfilling  their  professional  responsibilities  and carrying out their duties effectively.

6. Communication
 ● Ensure that all members of staff are familiar with the aims and objectives of the school.
 ● Engage positively with parents and the community to ensure effective
communication/consultation as appropriate.
  ● Act   with   professional   integrity   at   all   times,   notwithstanding   issues   of confidentiality and tact; act with honesty and transparency with regard to your work.

7. Community
  ● Identify opportunities, with the CBD, to further involve parents, carers, community figures, business and other organisations to enhance and enrich students’ experiences.
  ● Share knowledge and experience with other schools in Tokyo to promote innovative initiatives.
 ● Share the vision and values of the school and build these into daily practice, including the delivery of assemblies and other opportunities for celebrating achievement and informing progress (Parents’ Evenings and celebration of Achievement etc.).
  ● Ensure   timely   and   professional   communication   to   parents   in   all correspondence and consistent high standards in reports on students’ progress.
 ● Maintain positive perceptions of the school through relevant, interesting and engaging items on the school’s website,   social   media,   in   newsletters   and   the   local   media;   as   well   as presentations/workshops at Parents’/Curriculum Evenings and celebration events.
 ● Encourage participation and organising enrichment in cross and extra-curricular activities, appropriate to extending learning, including supporting those in line managed faculties/teams.


8. General:
 ● Undertake any other professional duties which may be delegated by the CBD
