Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team at our state-of-the-art data center facility. The EHS Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, health, and environmental compliance of our data center operations. This position requires a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, mitigating environmental risks, and promoting best practices in EHS.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations, codes, and standards within the data center.
  2. Risk Assessment: Identify potential safety hazards and environmental risks within the facility and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  3. Training and Education: Provide EHS training and awareness programs for data center employees, contractors, and visitors. Ensure that personnel are well-informed about safety protocols.
  4. Incident Investigation: Lead and conduct investigations into incidents, accidents, or near misses. Develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence and maintain accurate incident records.
  5. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, conduct drills, and ensure that the facility is adequately prepared for various emergency scenarios.
  6. Environmental Compliance: Monitor and manage environmental compliance, including waste disposal, emissions, and chemical handling, in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  7. Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the data center facility to identify and address potential safety and environmental issues.
  8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety and environmental activities, including incident reports, inspection findings, and training records.
  9. Ergonomics and Health: Promote employee health and well-being by addressing ergonomic concerns and implementing wellness programs as necessary.
  10. Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulations, and recommend improvements to EHS policies and procedures.

Required Skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS roles, with specific experience in data center environments preferred but not required.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate employees at all levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in using EHS management software and tools.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
