A leading global chemical company is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to strengthen its legal team in Japan.

This is an exciting opportunity at a chemical manufacturer with a long-established presence in Japan and a strong reputation across its industries. You will join an experienced legal team supporting the company's Japan operations, with a senior Bengoshi ready to train and develop your legal skills. 

This role suits a legal professional who wants broad, hands-on exposure across commercial, regulatory, and corporate matters, rather than a narrow specialist track, within a stable, technically driven manufacturing environment.

We are looking for a lawyer with:

* At least 3 years of experience in the legal department of a major corporation
* Broad working knowledge of Japanese corporate law
* Business-level English and native-level Japanese, written and spoken
* Previous experience in the chemical, materials, or manufacturing sector is an advantage

Key Responsibilities

* Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements
* Support cross-border and trade-related legal matters
* Provide cross-departmental legal advice to business and operational teams
* Manage corporate documentation and registration across all group companies
* Support the legal team on ad hoc projects as the business scales in Japan
