A leading global semiconductor technology company is seeking a Staff Product & Test Engineer (Sustaining Engineering) to join its high-volume manufacturing organization.
In this role, you will serve as the technical owner for a portfolio of semiconductor products throughout their production lifecycle, ensuring continued product quality, reliability, manufacturability, and cost competitiveness. You will collaborate closely with Design, Test Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability, and external manufacturing partners to drive yield improvement, optimize test solutions, resolve production issues, and support long-term product sustainability.
The ideal candidate combines strong semiconductor test engineering expertise with a product ownership mindset. You possess hands-on experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE), excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities, and a passion for driving operational excellence through data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Own and manage sustaining engineering activities for semiconductor products in high-volume manufacturing.
Lead product health monitoring through yield, test performance, quality, reliability, and manufacturing metrics.
Drive cost reduction initiatives through yield enhancement, test time optimization, throughput improvement, and manufacturing efficiency projects.
Develop and implement strategies to improve product quality, test coverage, and production robustness.
Investigate and resolve production, assembly, packaging, and test-related issues to ensure uninterrupted product supply.
Lead customer return (RMA) investigations, failure analysis activities, and root cause identification.
Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product reliability and customer satisfaction.
Develop automation tools, scripts, and data-driven solutions to improve engineering productivity and reporting efficiency.
Analyze manufacturing and test data to identify trends, optimize processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including Design Engineering, Operations, Reliability, Quality, Wafer Fabrication, and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) partners.
Support qualification activities, process transfers, manufacturing changes, and lifecycle management initiatives.
Participate in technical reviews and provide recommendations for product and process improvements.
Mentor junior engineers and promote technical knowledge sharing across the organization.
Support end-of-life planning and long-term product sustainability strategies.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience in semiconductor Product Engineering, Test Engineering, Sustaining Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering environments.
Hands-on experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) platforms used in semiconductor production.
Experience in test hardware development, test program development, validation, and production release activities.
Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing and product lifecycle management.
Experience troubleshooting and debugging analog, mixed-signal, and digital test systems.
Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, C++, Perl, BASIC, or equivalent.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large manufacturing datasets.
Experience using data analysis tools such as JMP, Exensio, Spotfire, Power BI, or similar platforms.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional and global team environments.
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ATE platforms such as Advantest V93000 (V93K), Teradyne ETS, Cohu Diamondx, or SPEA DOT800.
Experience supporting power management ICs, mixed-signal devices, microcontrollers, smart power products, or AI-related semiconductor technologies.
Knowledge of failure analysis methodologies, reliability testing, and qualification processes.
Experience leading yield improvement, test optimization, and manufacturing cost reduction projects.
Familiarity with semiconductor assembly processes, package technologies, and OSAT operations.
Experience managing product transfers, qualification programs, and manufacturing change activities.
Technical leadership or mentoring experience within engineering teams.
Key Competencies
Strong product ownership mindset.
Results-driven with a focus on operational excellence.
Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
Data-driven decision making and analytical thinking.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Strong business acumen with focus on cost, quality, and return on investment.
Effective collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
Continuous improvement and innovation mindset.
Ability to influence and lead technical initiatives across cross-functional teams.
