Legal Counsel - Tier 1 US Healthcare

This is an excellent opportunty to join an established team under a senior bengoshi, at a major name in healthcare technology. You will be a close advisor to the business, offering creative solutions to commercial and regulatory-focused legal issues. The main responsibilities are as follows:

• Provide practical legal advice to business teams across a range of commercial and corporate matters
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and support strategic business transactions
• Advise on legal, regulatory, compliance, competition law, and risk management issues
• Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations, ensuring the business remains compliant
• Support dispute resolution and coordinate with external legal counsel when required
• Assist with corporate governance, board-related matters, and internal policies
• Deliver legal guidance and training to promote compliance and business best practices
• Partner with internal stakeholders to enable business growth while managing legal risk

The key requirements for success in this role are as folows:

• Licensed attorney in Japan (bengoshi)
• Fluent Japanese and business-level English communication skills
• Around 4–8 years of post-qualification experience gained in private practice and/or an in-house legal environment
• Experience advising businesses operating in healthcare or life sciences
• A proactive, solutions-oriented professional who can work independently while building strong relationships across the business
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for understanding a technology-driven, highly regulated industry

Preferred 

• Familiarity with regulatory compliance, competition law, or commercial legal matters
• Exposure to dispute resolution or litigation management
• Experience collaborating with international teams or working in a global business environment
