A fast-growing global Tech / AI company is looking to bring on an experienced Legal Counsel to strengthen its in-house legal presence in Japan.

This newly created position sits within the legal team of a well-established technology company with a strong and growing footprint in the Japan market. You'll work alongside an experienced legal team supporting the company's full range of products and services locally, operating fluidly between English and Japanese in a fast-paced, international setting. As the business continues to scale, the legal function is expanding to match, making this a rare opportunity to grow into the role rather than inherit a fixed one.

This position is well suited to a legal professional looking to build broad, cross-functional experience, spanning commercial, regulatory, and corporate matters, rather than staying confined to a single area of specialization, within a fast-moving and well-recognized environment.

What you'll be doing:

• Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of legal documents, including vendor agreements, partnership contracts, and licensing arrangements
• Advising cross-functional teams on commercial agreements, marketing initiatives, and go-to-market materials
• Keeping the business aligned with evolving industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Overseeing corporate documentation and registration across group entities, ensuring full compliance with internal and external policy

What we're looking for:

• 3+ years of experience within the legal department of a major corporation
• Solid working knowledge of Japanese corporate law
• Business-level English and native-level Japanese, both written and spoken
• Prior exposure to the tech or AI industry is a strong plus
