No Japanese Required Senior Backend Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality and scalable backend systems
• Resolve complex issues (e.g., performance optimization, legacy debt reduction) through innovative solutions
• Write efficient, maintainable, and well-structured code following best practices
• Lead architectural design and long-term technical strategy discussions
• Mentor and support junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices
• Conduct code reviews to ensure consistency, quality, and maintainability
• Research and introduce emerging technologies to improve product development
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders

Expected Role

You will serve as the technical compass of the team — focusing 100% on technical decision-making and growth.
People management (goal-setting, evaluation, HR) is handled by experienced Engineering Managers, allowing you to dedicate your time to architecture, mentorship, and technical excellence.

Work Style

Must-Have

• 3+ years of web application development using modern frameworks
• 3+ years of backend development experience using two or more languages (e.g., Python, Ruby)
• Experience developing enterprise-level SaaS products
• 2+ years of experience in mentoring or leading engineers
• Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases

Nice-to-Have

• Experience leading a development team or working as an Engineering Manager
• Experience implementing automated testing frameworks
• Vietnamese language skills (for collaboration with Geniee Vietnam)
