Part-time Legal Counsel for Life Sciences global company

A leading global diagnostics company is seeking a part-time Legal Counsel in Tokyo to support its sales and marketing operations. Reporting to the General Counsel in APAC, this solo role requires the ability to work independently on complex legal matters, including contract drafting, risk management, compliance, and coordination with external counsel.

Key tasks include:

• Provide clear, timely legal advice to management and staff on a variety of legal issues, with a focus on sales and marketing activities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, agreements, and legal documents to protect the company’s interests

• Perform legal research and analyze risk factors related to business decisions and day-to-day operations

• Develop, implement, and maintain legal procedures and compliance frameworks to align with corporate policies and minimize legal exposure

• Oversee collaboration with external legal firms, ensuring the delivery of effective and cost-efficient legal support

• Licensed attorney with at least three years of relevant legal experience

• Experience in the healthcare sector is strongly preferred

• Able to commit to a part-time schedule

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English

• Previous experience working in a multinational corporate setting is a strong plus
