【Job Responsibilities】

<About the Role & Team>
In this position, we are looking for an analyst to lead application software market research, especially in the mid-tier vendors area. The analyst will assist with the “Worldwide Semiannual Software Tracker” for the Japan portion. The analyst will conduct ongoing research and analysis of trends in the application software market in Japan and provide customers with the deep knowledge and insights gained. In addition, the analyst will work with global and Asia/Pacific analysts in the software market to contribute to IDC's thought leadership in this market from a Japanese perspective.
The analyst will also provide support as an analyst to mid-tier clients.

<What You'll Do>

  • Research & analysis — plan and execute research on application software and write research reports, and conduct market estimates and forecasts for data products in the software market.
  • Market coverage — cover the overall Japanese application software market, especially the mid-tier vendors area.
  • Methodology — research will include market forecasts, vendor share analysis, and user company demand surveys, as well as interviews with IT suppliers and user companies, quantitative research such as web surveys, and research of secondary data.
  • Business development — support business development of cloud-related subscription and custom services.
  • External presentations — present at external events regarding the cloud market and at IDC's own events, and engage in consulting projects.
  • Global collaboration — collaborate with overseas analysts on research and business development.
  • Vendor relationships — establish and maintain relationships with cloud solution vendors.

Required Skills

【What You Bring】

  • Practical experience in application software development and implementation support, product marketing, and/or business planning at application software vendors, system integrators, or consulting firms, with knowledge of application software. Alternatively, experience in selecting and implementing software vendors, or in planning and managing systems at client companies, with knowledge of application software products and solutions, is also eligible.
  • English proficiency — basic conversation and e-mail communication (read and write).
  • Japanese — native level (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • PC skills — Excel (pivot table creation/utilization skill), Word, PowerPoint.
  • College graduate or above.
