Legal Counsel for Japan & Korea - JPY 18M

Legal Counsel for Japan & Korea with a fast-growing Consumer Tech company. Great chance to join a dedicated and enthusiastic team. JPY 18M. You will be:

• Provide general legal counsel and risk management guidance on contractual related matters.
• Review and draft various types of commercial contracts for the business segments in Japan & Korea, including distribution and supply contracts with customers, vendor supply and indemnification contracts and service provider contracts.
• Act as the company’s legal counsel and lead negotiator in the review and negotiation of contractual arrangements. 
• Analyze risk (both business and legal) in business contracts and other legal documents, and partner with the business team to develop strategies to balance or manage that risk. 
• Manage and oversee the work of outside counsel where necessary.
• Prepare key legal correspondence and notices related to contracts and contract administration matters.
• Monitor the changing legal issues and legal environment affecting the company in the regulatory areas to assure that the company complies with applicable Japanese regulations and laws.
• Manage contract related due diligence activities for mergers and acquisitions.
• Use excellent verbal and written communication skills to create high-quality business correspondence, presentations, and legal documents that are clear, concise and effective.
   

Requirements:

• At least 5-7 years of relevant experience (technology company a plus)
• Strong knowledge of Japanese and US law and prior demonstrated experience in commercial contract negotiation and documentation.
• Must possess exceptional analytical ability and advocacy skills; strong negotiating skills, excellent written and oral communication and negotiation skills; and the ability to drive execution in a team environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in all interactions with senior management, corporate departments and all levels of employees.
• Possess excellent people skills and the ability to build and maintain positive, supportive working relationships both intra-department and inter-department; maintain an approachable, friendly demeanor. 
• Possess the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, including the ability to multi-task and the flexibility to reprioritize and meet demanding deadlines.
• Native level of Japanese with fluent English (Korean ability a plus)
• Developed business acumen, with the ability to understand the company's business and anticipate the nature and magnitude of issues that could arise in various settings.
