     Data Management Manager role is based within IT, as part of an AXA wide program to improve the management of data across the organization. This role works closely with Business Partners and Business Subject Matter Experts in the creation and operationalization of the AXA Life Japan Data Management Program including but not limited to definition, ratification, support, implementation and maintenance of data policies and data standards and is also responsible for management and oversight of the CDO staff. 

【The primary responsibilities】

  • Manage the AXA Life Japan CDO book of work 
  • Day to Day management of data management staff, ( Responsible for their performance management, career development, oversight of team deliverables) 
  • Day-to-day management of the Data Security, Data Governance and Data Quality & Issue Management team and coordination of services across the organization
  • Work with Group data teams to ensure that the whole of the Client Data Journey is delivering a high-quality standard of data 
  • Oversee the delivery of data initiatives to ensure alignment and conformance to data policies and standards 
  • Provide data consultancy and support to Stakeholders 
  • Establish data quality metrics and data quality management reporting to measure and monitor data quality 
  • Liaise with key stakeholders as needed to define remediation requirements, approach, scope identification/sizing, progress updates and prioritization 
  • Define Data Quality reporting strategy, driven by business priorities and criticality including senior management reporting and dashboards. 
  • Provide Data Quality control and monitoring techniques as required by business. 
  • Demonstrate clear value-add for business. 
  • Create processes for definition, application and reporting of Data Quality metrics including program and project level KPIs 
  • Ensure adherence to Group Data Policies 
  • Communicate, educate and promote the importance and value of data and information assets, including usage of a common business vocabulary, aligned with the defined Data Dictionary / Business Glossary and work with the CDO communication team to raise general data quality awareness

【Key Accountabilities】

  • Drive data management and governance practice in AXA Life Japan
  • Establish the plan and execute the plan for the data security, data governance, data standards and data quality
  • Define Data Quality metrics and establish KPIs to ensure reporting and monitoring
  • Ensure the compliance with Group Data Policy


【Job qualification】

  • Minimum 10 years of data management experience with good knowledge of data management and governance
  • Possesses very strong management skills and strong executive presence
  • Strong Project Management skills 
  • Strong leadership and matrix management skills 
  • Proven ability to prioritize competing demands 
  • Excellent organizational, planning and management skills 
  • Ability to build relationships by communicating, influencing and negotiating effectively with business heads, senior managers, consultants, technical experts across the whole department and business users 
  • Be delivery focused with ability to pay attention to detail and ensure tasks are completed on time and to the required levels of quality
  • Proven experience in identifying and managing the risks, issues and dependencies related to complex data projects 
  • Experience in the Finance industry environment together with business project management experience
  • Structured approach to programme and project manager including promoting and ensuring adherence to the project governance framework defined by AXA Life Japan
  • Good knowledge of regulatory trends and developments (with particular data focus)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to build and maintain global relationships 
  • Outstanding written / verbal communication and presentation skills 
  • Planning, time management and resource management skills 
  • Previous experience in managing teams and delivery of projects.
