The Japanese market for technical materials is one of the most advanced in the world. Not only are some of our client's strongest competitors based in Japan, but the nation's industrial customers and end-users are also among the most sophisticated to be found anywhere. Things that are all around you in everyday life: from sapphire lenses that scan your supermarket shopping, fresh water pipes and insulation for your home, and safety glass for motor vehicles, through to high-performance composite materials for train, aircraft, and space programs.


  • To understand and clarify all technical specifications of the customers, detect and raise any issues which may lead to difficulties
  • To have the SGSx development teams and producing plants acknowledge/understand these specifications and to communicate on the difficulties in order to find solutions
  • To negotiate with the customers the best conditions for the production of the glazing by our plants
  • To lead and regularly follow-up (minimum one formal review per month) with the SGSx development teams, the developments stages and to respect the customers' requests in terms of parts delivery time schedules, quality, costs and according to internal development procedures e.g. APQP
  • To use the Stage Gate procedure (or 8P KPIs) to follow up and report projects status
  • To control the development costs of the plants in order to respect or be under the initial budget; the pay-back rate (PBR) and Extended margin (EM) are the main financial indicators of performance of projects
  • To detect any opportunities of 'change management', VA/VE (changes on glazing) to improve our profitability
  • To promote added value products to the customers in order to improve the overall profitability of the projects
  • To smoothly transfer the technical data to the producing plants at the end of the projects and ensure a good production ramp-up
  • To help and lead his/her team to achieve above points
  • Projects reporting, Budget and Plan:
  • To monitor all the projects under his/her responsibility, in Japan and overseas, and to report at least once a month about the projects status including hard issues, profitability and change management issues
  • To answer to requests of SGSI regarding Budget, Plan, PBR or any other requests on above projects
  • Regarding Budget and Plan: to input data into SGSI Projects management tables

Products prescription & detection:



  • Thanks to close contacts with the OEMs' design and engineering teams, to continuously and regularly report on the evolution of the customers' products and functions needs to help guiding our marketing strategy
  • To ensure the promotion and introduction of added value products (already available) and innovations (under development in SGS) towards his/her contacts at the customers

Management of forward sourcing requests:

  • To conduct the feasibility studies based on data given by the customers, together with the competence centers (SRDC, HRDC, CRDC …) and the plants
  • To closely work with the Customers' forward sourcing, or design and engineering departments to get the information needed and to swiftly and correctly conduct these feasibility studies
  • To organize and lead the internal meetings needed to manage the projects. He/she will communicate with SGSI departments, e.g. CPST, CPSL, Post-glass PG2 dept, in order to make a correct technical answer to the clients
  • In case of products not currently feasible in SGS plants, to consult with SGSI sales, marketing and industrial departments in order to define the answer
  • To make the technical answer to the clients on time, in coordination with the (I)KAMs who will validate the offers

Transfer of the programs to the Project leaders:

  • Once a program is gotten, to transfer all useful information about the programs to the SGSx project leaders so that they can start working on the development of glazing

Technical support to the Account managers:

  • To bring a technical support to the customers and to the (I)KAMs whenever needed











  • Bachelor/Master Degree of Science
  • Min. 5 years of experience in the Automotive or similar B2B industry, as Projects leader or manager, or Product development leader
  • Good technical background (mechanical, chemical …) in order to be able to understand glazing and modular production processes
  • Good technical knowledge of glass and glazing modules production processes (after training provided if not already in glass business).
  • At ease in the management of/communication with an international team and of complex projects with many overseas contacts
  • Knowledge/understanding of CAD softwares used by clients e.g. Autocad, IDEAS, IGES …
  • Good level of spoken and written English; Japanese being mother tongue or fluent.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills, and ability to create a good relationship with internal/external customers
  • Contacts to develop with the different counterparts (R&D, design, engineering, marketing …) of the customers
