Client Overview:

Australian-based multinational corporation that is one of the largest providers of commercial explosives and blasting systems to the mining and infrastructure markets, a global leader in the provision of ground support in mining and tunneling, and a leading supplier of sodium cyanide for gold extraction. The company has a diverse workforce of over 12,000 people servicing customers across more than 100 countries.

Responsibilities:

Role Description and Purpose:
This role supports the Commercial Lead – Japan & Korea in the development and execution of the Company’s growth strategy. This is a business development and sales role with an initial focus on driving electronic blasting systems (EBS) market penetration. Essential to success will be the ability to build relationships with industry participants, showcase the value of the Company and EBS, in particular in tunneling applications, and coordinate training and product support to ensure a substitution of conventional IS (initiating systems) with EBS. The role is likely to broaden beyond EBS as the Company gains momentum in the Japanese markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the continued development and definition of the growth strategy in Japan
  • Building relationships within the civil tunnelling construction industry in Japan, creating industry awareness of the Company’s products and expertise, particularly around EBS and associated benefits as well as internal understanding of tunnelling industry characteristics, challenges and key success factors
  • Promoting the Company’s offerings at key construction industry forums and conferences
  • Coordinating and delivering EBS product trials with influential and supportive industry players
  • Coordinating product support and training resources as necessary to deliver EBS product trials and drive market penetration
  • Partnering closely with relevant Commercial Lead – Japan & Korea, and/or management representatives in Japan
  • Supporting development of a regulatory management plan in relation to civil tunneling in Japan. Engaging and managing relationships with key regulatory stakeholders, in conjunction with the Commercial Lead – Japan & Korea.
  • Ensuring full compliance with safety, health and environment obligations in relation to in country activities, the Company standards and customer requirements.
  • Facilitating the capture and sharing of best practice across the Company’s global tunnelling community
  • Guiding and supervising other staff within the company as required
  • Establish relationships with the Company’s R&D function, EBS development team and underground metals teams to collaborate on technology initiatives, blasting techniques and ensure the Company remains the market leader from a technology perspective

スキル・資格

Critical Experience and Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering. Further tertiary qualification in business, economics, finance or equivalent would be highly regarded.
  • 2+ years of drill and blast experience with knowledge of electronic blasting systems (EBS)
  • Experience working autonomously and across cultures highly regarded
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with internal, customer and regulatory stakeholders
  • 6+ years plus post qualification experience, ideally with 2+ years of proven sales and/or business development experience within either civil construction and/or mining sectors
  • Strong strategic and commercial acumen supported by sound commercial judgement
  • Ability to orchestrate, manage and drive complex business development and sales activities
