1.Leads the development of IT strategy and services supporting the Japan Development and Medical Affairs function (known as JDMA) which consists of 500 staff. Ensures that Japan R D IT strategy aligns with global IT strategy
2.Ensures that major activities undertaken by IT are aligned and remain aligned with the strategy and priorities of the JDMA business and deliver the expected benefits and remain in compliance with GxP/regulatory requirements by active participation throughout the life cycle of major solutions and services.
3.Establishes and maintains governance and prioritization mechanisms within the business for IT solutions and services.
4.Acts as an IT “account manager” for JDMA a point of contact for client management and opinion leaders to coordinate IT service provision and address service issues. Sits on the JDMA Leadership Team to represent IT. Provides business partnering and consulting services to senior JDMA clients in the justification evaluation and use of computing technologies
5.Manages the performance and development of directly assigned staff (5 6 IT business analysts/consultants) to ensure professional standards personal development plans and an appropriate skills base are maintained to deliver the agreed program of work..
6.Ensures the required controls to ensure the monitoring of IT capital and operational budgets in support of JDMA.
7.Partners closely with other Global IT leaders to ensure the strategy delivery support and infrastructure service we provide meet R D’s Japan regional and global business needs.
Required Skills and Experience
1.Graduate calibre or equivalent experience.
2.Comprehensive experience in developing and setting IT strategy driving adoption of best practices incorporating both internal and external industry standards
3.Experience of the Pharmaceutical Industry/life sciences domain and GxP/regulatory requirements
4.Demonstrated strong personal effectiveness influencing communication and interpersonal skills which can be applied effectively at all organisational levels across R D
5.A proven ability to effectively partner with 3rd party software and service vendors. This includes capabilities in managing both the tactical and strategic aspects of a vendor relationship.
6.Deep experience in programme leadership across the software development lifecycle. Demonstrated success in leading significant programme/project teams on a cross functional/cross geography basis.
7.Solid track record of quality decision making and creative problem resolution that impacts programme/project direction and influences long term strategies.
8.Extensive line management experience and ability to inspire support and coach both line and matrixed staff to deliver their best work
9.Proven ability to apply knowledge of multiple disciplines or technological processes to affect programme direction and resulting business impact.
10.Fluent English speaker and writer
