Senior Full stack engineer for English Speaker

This is a healthcare technology startup building AI-powered SaaS solutions to improve workflows in clinical settings. Its flagship product uses real-time speech recognition and AI to turn conversations involving nurses and other healthcare professionals into structured records.

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of product features, working across backend APIs, frontend interfaces, application architecture, databases, and cloud infrastructure. You will help build and scale the core platform and integrate real-time AI capabilities such as speech recognition, summarization, and natural language understanding. You will work closely with AI engineers, product members, and clinical professionals to deliver reliable features that solve real problems in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and deliver product features end to end, from backend APIs to frontend user interfaces.
• Design, build, and scale the core application architecture and database foundations.
• Develop and maintain systems using PostgreSQL, AWS RDS Aurora, and cloud-native services.
• Integrate real-time AI services for speech recognition, summarization, and natural language understanding through AWS and Azure.
• Deploy, optimize, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Collaborate closely with AI engineers, product team members, and clinical professionals to ship impactful features.
• Improve system reliability, performance, and developer productivity.
• Contribute broadly to engineering work as needed in a fast-moving startup environment.

Required Qualifications

• At least 3 years of professional full-stack software engineering experience.
• Strong backend development skills using technologies such as Next.js, Django, FastAPI, Node.js, AWS Lambda, PostgreSQL, and SQL.
• Solid hands-on frontend development experience.
• A strong product mindset and the ability to reason about and contribute across the full system.
• Ability to work effectively with a global team.
• Currently based in Japan and able to commute to Tokyo.
• Business-level English communication skills.
• Japanese language skills are not required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI services on AWS or Azure.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Experience in healthcare, medtech, or other highly regulated industries.
• Fluency in both Japanese and English.
