Are you a procurement professional with deep expertise in steel sourcing and established relationships with Steel mill suppliers? 

We are partnering with a leading global industrial business seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to drive strategic sourcing, supplier management, and commercial negotiations across its steel procurement portfolio. This is a highly visible role for someone who understands steel markets, can negotiate effectively with mills, and is comfortable operating in a dynamic global commodities environment.

The Opportunity

This role will take ownership of strategic steel procurement activities, managing key supplier relationships while ensuring competitive pricing, secure supply, and strong commercial outcomes. The successful candidate will work closely with regional stakeholders, suppliers, and trading counterparts to support business growth and procurement excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing and procurement activities for steel products and raw materials across regional and global supplier networks.

• Manage and develop relationships with key China-based steel mills and suppliers.

• Drive RFQs, supplier evaluations, tender processes, commercial negotiations, and contract management.

• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, supply agreements, and strategic partnerships with suppliers.

• Monitor steel market developments, pricing trends, supply-demand dynamics, and competitive intelligence to support procurement strategies.

• Manage supplier performance, supply risks, and business continuity initiatives.

• Partner with logistics, finance, operations, and commercial teams to optimise procurement outcomes.

• Support trade-related activities including commercial documentation, import/export coordination, and supplier compliance.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience in steel procurement, steel trading, metals sourcing, commodity purchasing, or strategic sourcing within the steel industry.

• Direct experience managing and negotiating with China-based steel suppliers and mills, including established supplier networks and relationships.

• Strong commercial negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.

• Solid understanding of steel products, manufacturing processes, product grades, and technical specifications.

• Demonstrated success in managing strategic supplier portfolios within the steel, metals, or industrial materials sectors.

• Strong commercial awareness of steel market dynamics, including pricing mechanisms, market trends, supply-demand fundamentals, and procurement strategy.
