Our client is a major e-commerce and technology organization operating one of Japan's largest online marketplace platforms. The business leverages modern cloud and data technologies to manage high-volume transaction data and deliver data-driven services across a large and complex digital ecosystem.
Description
- Design, build, and optimize large-scale batch and streaming data pipelines using Spark, Kafka, Spark Streaming, Python, and Google Cloud Platform
- Develop and maintain data infrastructure supporting a high-traffic e-commerce platform
- Automate data ingestion and processing workflows to improve efficiency and reliability
- Support the migration of data platforms and workloads from on-premises environments to Google Cloud Platform
- Operate and maintain applications responsible for processing large-scale datasets
- Resolve complex data storage, retrieval, and performance challenges
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and support production systems using logging, alerting, and monitoring tools
- Collaborate with engineering teams, stakeholders, and cross-functional partners
- Contribute to technical leadership initiatives and project delivery
- Deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality data solutions that support business-critical metrics and insights

- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer
- Hands-on experience developing and operating Spark and Kafka applications
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery
- Advanced SQL and relational database expertise
- Proven experience building and optimizing large-scale data pipelines and datasets
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure management
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts
- Linux development experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to data processing and transformation
- Experience managing projects and delivering high-quality technical solutions
- Business-level Japanese communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Conversational-level English communication skills
- Experience working with large-scale big data environments
- Database administration and performance tuning experience
- Strong understanding of DevOps and microservices architecture
- Experience with Jenkins or other CI/CD tools
- Scrum or Agile development experience
- Experience with Looker semantic layer development
- Previous experience leading or mentoring software engineering teams
