Golang and Python engineer @ The renewable energy company

About the Role

We are launching a new Business Platform Team and are looking for an early member who can help shape not only the technology, but also the team's mission, processes, and way of working.

This is not a role where you simply receive requirements and build software.

You will work directly with business teams to identify underlying problems, redesign business processes, and turn them into reliable, scalable systems.

You will have the opportunity to work across business process design, software engineering, data, automation, governance, and AI, with significant ownership and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Process Discovery & Design

• Interview business users and understand their day-to-day operations and pain points
• Visualize current business processes and identify opportunities for improvement
• Design optimized future-state business processes
• Translate business requirements into system requirements
• Facilitate alignment across multiple departments and stakeholders

2. Business Platform Development

• Design and develop internal business systems and operational applications
• Build master data management systems
• Develop workflows covering contracts, operations, approvals, and related processes
• Integrate internal and external systems through APIs and batch processing
• Automate reconciliation, verification, and other manual operations

3. Billing, Settlement & Accounting Operations

• Improve and stabilize billing, settlement, and accounting-related processes
• Automate billing amount calculations
• Reconcile electricity market transactions, generation results, and balancing results
• Generate and validate settlement data
• Improve visibility and reliability of monthly closing processes

4. Governance, Internal Controls & Auditability

• Design and implement Audit Trails
• Build role, permission, and approval workflows
• Systematize segregation of duties
• Automatically maintain operational records and evidence required for audits
• Design systems with correctness, maintainability, security, and auditability in mind

5. Monitoring & Observability

• Build dashboards for operational metrics such as processing volume, completion rates, and bottlenecks
• Monitor batch jobs, APIs, and other automated processes
• Implement anomaly detection and alerting
• Develop KPI dashboards for business operations

6. Data Quality & Data Governance

• Define authoritative data sources and common data models
• Establish master data lifecycle management
• Improve data quality and governance
• Build data lineage and traceability

7. AI-driven Operations

• Redesign operational processes with AI as a core capability
• Use tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Gemini CLI to accelerate development and automation
• Extract information from unstructured data
• Support verification and review processes using AI
• Automate repetitive business operations using AI agents

8. Cross-functional Collaboration

You will work closely with:

You will collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and help determine the optimal architecture and technology for each business problem.

Required Qualifications

Must-have

• Experience designing, developing, and operating web applications, backend systems, or business systems
• Software development experience using Python, Go, or another programming language
• Experience with relational databases, including data modeling and SQL-based data extraction, transformation, and validation
• Experience integrating multiple systems or data sources using APIs, batch processing, or similar approaches
• Experience understanding real-world business operations and translating them into business and system requirements
• Ability to structure and design business flows, data flows, and state transitions
• Experience driving projects collaboratively with non-engineering stakeholders
• Ability to form hypotheses and move forward even when requirements are incomplete or ambiguous
• Strong ownership from design and development through rollout, operations, and continuous improvement
• A mindset of prioritizing correctness, maintainability, security, and auditability

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a startup or rapidly growing company where you handled a broad range of responsibilities
• Experience rapidly developing internal tools, business applications, data aggregation systems, or API integrations
• Experience developing or implementing Internal Tools, Business Systems, ERP, or CRM
• Experience designing, developing, and operating systems on Google Cloud, AWS, or other cloud platforms
• Backend development experience with Go or Python
• Experience with microservices, gRPC, asynchronous processing, or job execution platforms
• Experience designing reliable systems with retry mechanisms, idempotency, monitoring, alerting, and rollback strategies
• Knowledge of accounting, billing, settlement, receivables, revenue recognition, or cost accounting
• Experience building contract management, workflow, approval, or permission management systems
• Knowledge or experience in internal controls, auditing, Audit Trails, or security
• Experience with master data management, data quality, or data governance
• Experience building data platforms, ETL/ELT pipelines, BI systems, or KPI dashboards
• Experience integrating external systems, SaaS platforms, or accounting systems through APIs
• Experience improving business processes using the right combination of custom development, no-code, and low-code tools
• Experience with AI-driven development using tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Gemini CLI
• Experience using AI/LLMs to automate or enhance business processes
• Experience working with external development partners and/or driving in-house development
• Experience launching a new team, project, or product from scratch
• Knowledge of electricity markets, power balancing, renewable energy, FIP, or PPA
• Experience working in English in a software development or business environment
