About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Manager to support projects within the theatre and entertainment industry.
ShowTex is a global company with operations across 13 countries. We provide stage curtains, theatrical drapes, screens, and other specialized products used in theatres, entertainment venues, and major facilities around the world.
As our business in Japan continues to expand following the establishment of our Japan office in February 2024, we are looking for a Technical Manager to oversee the technical aspects of our projects and on-site operations.
Key Responsibilities
You will utilize your broad technical knowledge across areas such as welding, rigging, event/stage construction, and installation to manage projects from planning through completion.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop technical solutions combining ShowTex products, including stage curtains, theatrical drapes, and screens, with expertise in welding, rigging, and event/stage installation, while ensuring safe execution
- Provide technical support to clients and project stakeholders and resolve technical issues
- Create and interpret 2D/3D technical and fabrication drawings and provide clear instructions to relevant departments
- Work closely with clients from the design stage through project completion to ensure projects progress in the appropriate technical direction
- Collaborate with the sales team to develop technical project budgets and manage the procurement and purchasing of materials and equipment
- Lead and supervise on-site technicians with safety as the highest priority
- Oversee quality control throughout project execution
- Delegate responsibilities, manage changes across teams, provide support in emergency situations, and verify completed work
- Maintain accurate records of production equipment and inventory
- Support recruitment for the technical department and the training and development of permanent and temporary technical staff
- Handle other duties related to technical operations and project delivery
After Joining
You will be supported by experienced team members as you familiarize yourself with ShowTex's products, processes, and projects. You will gradually take on greater responsibility and autonomy as you become comfortable with the role.

Probationary period: 6 months
No change to employment conditions during the probationary period.
Salary
Expected annual salary upon joining: ¥6.6 million–¥7.8 million
Monthly salary: ¥550,000–¥650,000
- Overtime allowance provided
- Salary review once per year
Working Hours
9:00 AM–6:00 PM
8 working hours / 1-hour break
Depending on project requirements, shift work and nighttime work may be required based on on-site operating hours.
Average overtime: Less than 20 hours per month

Requirements
- Hands-on professional experience in one or more relevant technical areas, such as technical design, rigging, construction/installation, welding, event or stage production, electrical systems, audio, or lighting
- Strong proficiency in creating and working with 2D/3D drawings using AutoCAD or similar software
- Business-level Japanese and English communication skills
- Experience in team management and staff development/training
Language Requirements
Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English is required.
In addition to communicating with on-site technicians and other internal departments in Japanese, you will communicate in English with overseas offices, partners, and other stakeholders through email, online meetings, and telephone calls.
Candidates must therefore be able to communicate technical information accurately and effectively in both languages.
Preferred Qualifications
- Comfortable working at heights, including scaffolding and lifting equipment, and around machinery or automated equipment
- Flexibility to travel and work occasional weekends or night shifts depending on project requirements
- Ability to remain calm and solve problems effectively in a fast-changing environment
