[English] Server Engineer - French Bank

Randstad Japan is partnered with with one of the largest French Financial Services firm globally. We are looking for a dedicated engineer to join their server team. As a Server Engineer, you will serve as a crucial technical authority, ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our IT infrastructure while delivering top-tier support to the business. You NEED to have experience designing, building / provisioning servers, not just maintenance and administration.

This role is eligible for candidates based in Japan only (we can help with visa conversion sponsorship).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical guidance to teammates and direct technical support to the business.
• Act as a senior Level II, Subject Matter Expert, or Level III engineer to solve complex IT infrastructure issues.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for team members facing IT infrastructure challenges.
• Actively monitor client infrastructures and execute preventative measures to avoid disruptions.
• Collaborate closely with helpdesk, network, and application teams to deliver professional, timely service to clients.
• Provide internal and client advice to improve system efficiency, stability, and performance.
• Design and implement innovative technology solutions and projects.
• Collaborate with the Local Security Officer and Head Office to quickly remediate any cyber security vulnerabilities.
• Mentor junior teammates to help enhance their technical capabilities.
• Maintain highly updated and accurate records of the IT infrastructure.
• Uphold and promote company culture and standards.
• Remain available via phone outside of standard office hours.
• Exhibit flexibility with work hours to support business needs, including weekends and public holidays.
• Perform additional ad-hoc tasks as assigned by management

■Technical Skills & Competencies

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server and IBM Red Hat Linux technologies.
• Proven experience managing IT infrastructure servers, storage solutions, data backups, and replication.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong hands-on proficiency with virtualization tools, specifically HyperV or VMware.
• Hands-on experience with configuration and automation tools, such as Ansible.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively at all levels within the company and with clients.

■Qualifications

• 3 to 5+ years of proven experience as an infrastructure engineer, including data center operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
• Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory. Japanese language skills are a bonus
• Financial Domain (Preferred): A strong understanding of financial tech stacks, trade floor environments, and data center support is highly preferred.
• Certifications (Advantage): Holding MCSE, AWS, Azure, or CISSP certifications will be considered a strong advantage.
