English Speaking Frontend Developer

Alchemista Labs is developing next-generation software that enables enterprise R&D teams to transform raw experimental data into structured, analysis-ready datasets.

As a Front-end Engineer, you will design and build intuitive user interfaces that simplify complex scientific workflows and large-scale data operations.

You'll work in a small, highly autonomous engineering team using modern technologies including React 19, TypeScript, OpenAPI-generated clients, and end-to-end testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop front-end features for the Alchemista Labs platform
• Build interfaces for transforming raw experimental data into structured datasets
• Develop spreadsheet-level editable data grids
• Implement drag-and-drop dataset creation workflows
• Design intuitive user experiences for complex workflows
• Collaborate closely with backend engineers, product managers, and designers
• Lead frontend architecture and technical decision-making in a small engineering team
• Maintain high-quality, maintainable, and scalable frontend code

Tech Stack

• Frontend: JavaScript (VueJS, ReactJS)
• Backend APIs: RESTful architecture
• Cloud: AWS
• Security: Confidential computing, data encryption, AI inference over encrypted data

Required Qualifications

• At least 2 years of professional software development experience
• Experience integrating with RESTful APIs
• Professional experience using React or Vue.js
• Experience developing UI with component libraries or design systems such as:
  • Chakra UI
  • Material UI (MUI)
• Strong interest in Artificial Intelligence and Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (Secure Computation)
• Business-level English proficiency
• Currently residing in Japan, or previously lived in Japan with confirmed plans to relocate

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing and operating SaaS products on AWS
• Experience building products from scratch (0→1 product development)
• Experience developing sophisticated data-driven interfaces such as:
  • Editable grids and tables
  • Drag-and-drop interfaces
  • Complex form-based applications
• Business-level Japanese proficiency
