Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated New Product Development (NPD) Engineer to lead and execute product development projects from concept to mass production within an automotive manufacturing environment. The incumbent will be responsible for driving new product introductions, ensuring compliance with IATF 16949, ISO standards, APQP, PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA, and customer-specific requirements. This role requires close coordination with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and high-quality products while meeting project timelines and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

New Product Development

• Lead end-to-end product development activities from concept, design, prototyping, validation, and production launch.

• Evaluate new materials, components, technologies, and manufacturing processes to support product innovation and continuous improvement.

• Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, and product validation activities.

• Develop products that meet customer specifications, quality expectations, regulatory standards, and business requirements.

• Manage project timelines, milestones, deliverables, and launch readiness activities.

Design & Engineering

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, GD&T requirements, and customer standards.

• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including: 

  • Bill of Materials (BOM)

  • Product specifications

  • Engineering drawings

  • Test plans and validation reports

  • Project schedules and development plans

  • Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Notices (ECN)

• Support prototype development, testing, evaluation, and product optimization activities.

• Investigate and resolve technical issues related to product design, manufacturing processes, and field performance.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO standards, APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and customer-specific requirements throughout the development cycle.

• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, process validation, and product approvals.

• Coordinate PPAP documentation, submissions, and customer approvals.

• Support internal, external, and customer audits related to quality management systems and product development processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Manufacturing, Production Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Supply Chain, Sales, and Customer Support teams.

• Coordinate with suppliers for prototype development, tooling, component sourcing, and technical approvals.

• Support product industrialization activities to ensure a smooth transition from development to serial production.

• Provide technical assistance throughout the product lifecycle, including post-launch improvements and engineering changes.

Cost & Risk Management

• Conduct product cost analysis and value engineering initiatives to improve product competitiveness.

• Identify technical, quality, and project risks and implement effective mitigation plans.

• Drive continuous improvement activities focused on quality, reliability, manufacturability, and cost reduction.

• Monitor project performance and ensure adherence to budget, timeline, and quality objectives.
