Senior QA Engineer [JP/EN]

A global technology company operating in the connected mobility and smart vehicle space is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join its Tokyo-based engineering team.

As a Senior QA Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of consumer-facing mobile products that interact with connected hardware systems.

You will work closely with software engineers, hardware engineers, product managers, and QA teams across multiple countries to develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies.

The successful candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of testing activities from planning through execution and reporting.

• Review product requirements and technical specifications
• Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and quality risks early in the development cycle
• Design, create, review, and maintain comprehensive test cases
• Develop test strategies covering both functional and non-functional requirements

• Execute testing across Android and iOS platforms
• Prepare and maintain test environments, devices, simulators, and hardware setups
• Conduct regression, integration, system, and acceptance testing
• Collaborate with hardware teams on joint testing activities

• Document defects clearly and accurately
• Track issues through resolution
• Validate bug fixes and ensure quality standards are met
• Escalate critical quality concerns proactively

• Work closely with local and international engineering teams
• Support communication between software and hardware stakeholders
• Contribute to quality processes and continuous improvement initiatives
• Act as a key QA representative within Japan-based operations

• 8+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or Software Testing
• 4+ years of hands-on mobile application testing experience
• Strong experience testing both:
  • Android applications
  • iOS applications

• Experience with mobile test automation tools such as:
  • Appium
  • Maestro
  • XCUITest
  • UIAutomator
  • Similar frameworks
• Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman)
• Ability to read and understand:
  • API documentation
  • Firmware release notes
  • Technical specifications
  • System architecture documentation

• Business-level Japanese
• Business-level English
