PR/160588 | Supply Chain Manager (Semiconductor Equipment)

Our client is a semiconductor equipment manufacturing company currently expanding operation in Malaysia. As their business continues to growth, the company is currently looking for technical strong Supply Chain Manager who has experience handling semiconductor equipment, precision machine parts, fabrication components and engineering-based sourcing activities.  

This role is not a purchasing or buyer. They specifically searching for candidates who are capable of understanding machine drawings, technical specifications and fabrication requirements.  

Work Location: Sepang, Selangor 


Job Responsibilities

• Lead and manage overall supply chain activities including sourcing, procurement, supplier development, inventory control, logistics, and material planning.

• Develop and expand local Malaysia suppliers capable of manufacturing precision machine parts, fabrication components, automation equipment parts, and custom mechanical assemblies.

• Evaluate supplier technical capabilities based on machine drawings, technical specifications, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.

• Able to read and understand mechanical drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, machining drawings, and equipment technical specifications.

• Work closely with Engineering, Design, Assembly, Production, and Project teams to ensure smooth sourcing and procurement activities.

• Source and identify suitable vendors for machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, surface treatment, precision components, and automation-related parts.

• Conduct supplier audits, supplier capability assessments, quality evaluations, and cost improvement activities.

• Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and long-term supplier agreements.

• Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness.

• Drive localization and cost reduction initiatives to support company expansion in Malaysia.

• Handle procurement planning and ensure timely material delivery to support project schedules and machine assembly timelines.

• Resolve supply chain issues, supplier quality concerns, and delivery delays in collaboration with internal departments.

• Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases, and sourcing documentation.

• Support new project developments, prototype sourcing, and engineering change requirements.

   

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Supplier Development within machinery, automation equipment, semiconductor equipment, precision engineering, or manufacturing industries.

• Strong experience in developing local Malaysia suppliers for machine parts and fabrication works.

• Must be able to read and understand machine drawings and technical engineering drawings.

• Familiar with machining processes, CNC machining, fabrication, welding, sheet metal, precision parts, and industrial manufacturing processes.

• Experience sourcing custom-made machine components and automation equipment parts is highly preferred.

• Strong negotiation, supplier management, and vendor development skills.

• Good knowledge of supply chain management, inventory control, and procurement planning.

• Able to work in a fast-paced and project-driven manufacturing environment.

• Good communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams.

• Experience in Japanese manufacturing environment or automation machinery industry will be an added advantage.

• Mandarin speaking capability is an added advantage for supplier communication and regional coordination.
