Company Overview
Our client is an engineering solutions provider specializing in the design and execution of sophisticated controlled environments. Their firm supports high-tech industries by delivering complex mechanical systems for laboratories, cleanrooms, and advanced manufacturing facilities. As they continue to drive growth and expansion, they are now seeking a Design Manager, Mechanical to join their team and contribute to their ongoing success.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Manage a team of engineers and designers; develop staffing plans and allocate resources across multiple concurrent projects.

• Technical Oversight: Provide direction and conduct thorough reviews of mechanical designs, calculations, and 3D models (AutoCAD/Revit).

• Project Management: Manage project design schedules, control design costs, and ensure all deliverables meet project budget targets.

• Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs conform to applicable codes (ASHRAE, ISO, SS) and client specifications; implement and maintain departmental design standards and quality control processes.

• Collaboration: Participate in scope-definition meetings and interface with clients, vendors, and construction teams during project execution.

• Mentorship: Coach junior design staff through training and structured design reviews.

• Business Support: Assist in business development by contributing to proposals and technical specifications for prospective projects.

Key Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of studies.

• Experience: At least 7 years of mechanical design experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or management role.

• Technical Expertise: Proven expertise in HVAC system design for controlled environments (labs/cleanrooms) and process utility design (dry and wet systems).

• Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of 3D modelling using AutoCAD and Revit.

• Communication: Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. 

• Problem Solving: Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

• Mobility: Ability to travel to project sites or client locations as required.
