About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Civil & Building Supervisor to join a major industrial construction project in Mie Prefecture.

This role will be responsible for overseeing civil and building construction activities, ensuring quality standards are met, monitoring contractor performance, and supporting project delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying construction issues early, preventing rework, and maintaining high standards of workmanship across the project.

This is a hands-on site-based position requiring regular field inspections and close collaboration with contractors, quality teams, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Supervision

• Review civil and building construction drawings and specifications
• Supervise excavation, foundation, concrete, reinforcement, formwork, and structural works
• Monitor construction progress and contractor performance
• Verify work quality and compliance with project requirements
• Coordinate activities with contractors and subcontractors
• Support project scheduling and issue resolution

Quality Management

• Conduct site inspections and quality checks
• Monitor workmanship and construction standards
• Support QA/QC activities and inspection processes
• Identify construction issues, defects, and potential risks at an early stage
• Implement corrective actions to prevent delays and rework
• Maintain quality records and documentation

Coordination & Reporting

• Work closely with QA/QC, HSE, engineering, and construction teams
• Coordinate with local stakeholders, authorities, and project partners as required
• Prepare daily and weekly progress reports in English
• Track project risks, action items, and construction challenges

Requirements

• Degree or technical qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Structural Engineering, or a related field
• 7+ years of experience in large-scale construction projects
• 5+ years of site-based construction supervision experience
• Strong knowledge of concrete, reinforcement, formwork, drainage systems, and structural works
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
• Experience in quality control and inspection activities
• Experience managing contractors and subcontractors
• Fluent Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent for non-native speakers)
• Basic English communication skills for reporting and coordination

Preferred

• Experience on construction projects in Japan
• General contractor (GC) or EPC project experience
• Industrial plant, manufacturing facility, or infrastructure project experience
• Experience in water treatment, utilities, food production, or industrial facilities
• QA/QC experience
• Experience with AutoCAD, MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar project management tools
