Company Overview
Our client is a global leader in the engineering and manufacturing industry, renowned for delivering high-performance engine systems and power solutions. They design, manufacture, and maintain cutting-edge products and systems, including power plants, transportation systems, and industrial machinery. As they continue to drive growth and expansion, they are now seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team and contribute to their ongoing success.

Key Responsibilities

Design Management & Development:

• Create 2D & 3D parts and assembly drawings for generator set models using SolidWorks.

• Lead the mechanical design and development of generator set enclosures, ensuring acoustic, thermal, safety, and structural requirements are met.

• Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and vendors to optimize designs for cost, manufacturability, and durability.

• Oversee testing and validation of enclosures (acoustics, vibration, thermal, IP/weatherproof).

• Utilize CAD/CAE tools for 3D design, validate CFD/FEA analysis, and manage product data.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives, implement design best practices, and issue Engineering Change Orders (ECO) for design improvements.

• Engage with vendors to evaluate the design and performance of equipment selected for our products.

Pre-Sales Design Support:

• Provide mechanical design support from concept development through the pre-sales stage.

• Ensure all designs meet performance, quality, and customer requirements.

• Work closely with internal stakeholders (sales, application, procurement, production teams) to align engineering feasibility with market needs.

• Drive innovation in genset design, modularity, and digitalization.

• Manage pre-sales engineering changes, process design reviews, and conduct risk assessments.

• Work with the application team to perform engineering feasibility on components, equipment, and services proposed by vendors, and liaise to deliver customized products for specific project needs.

Key Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 

• 1+ years of experience in product design and manufacturing.

Technical Skills:

• Strong background in sheet metal design & fabrication, acoustics, thermal management, and structural design/FEA.

• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or NX).

• Knowledge of fabrication processes, coatings, corrosion protection standards, and surface treatment.

• Experience in design-to-manufacture lifecycle management, supplier/vendor collaboration, and testing/validation management.

• Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) is an advantage (optional).

Soft Skills:

• Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

• Strong leadership and planning skills.

• Excellent communication skills for effective internal stakeholder and customer engagement.
